THE NORTH OMAHA
VILLAGE ZONE:
All of the
partners will
continue to do
work and
projects in
other areas of
North Omaha.
The Village Zone
will be an areas
of intense focus
including
housing, jobs,
business
development,
violence
prevention,
education and
youth
development,
sustainability,
arts and
culture, and
other
comprehensive,
collaborative
projects.
The plan is to
create a process
that can be
successfully
implemented in
other village
areas throughout
North Omaha and
other parts of
the city.
The efforts are
starting in what
has long been
considered the
core of North
Omaha.
This is the
continuation of
over two years
of work in the
Empowerment
Network's
Village Strategy
area.

Plans, we’re
working together
to take the next
steps towards
Rebuilding North
Omaha…Block by
Block.
Come
participate in
an interactive
meeting with our
consultants H3
Studio and Schemmer Associates. Be a
part of the
rebuilding of
this historic
part of North
Omaha.
This is not a
study.
This is an
action plan for
implementation.
The purpose is
to take the
North Omaha
Development
study and bring
it down to a
block by block
plan starting
with areas with
the highest
potential for
development.
Specific
projects will be
identified and
implemented.
TIMELINE:
The
planning will
happen in
phases.
Initial meetings
with community
stakeholders
have been held
to outline the
process.
By the end of
March,
consultants will
have concepts
for the
community to
review in two of
the target
areas. By
the end of May,
based on
community,
stakeholder, and
the input of
partners, a
number of
specific
proposals will
be developed and
prepared for
funding support.
Additional
community
planning
sessions will be
announced and
held during
April
and May.
